Data Quality
With data quality exceeding standard
proton precession and comparable to more expensive optically pumped
cesium units, the GSM-19 Onerhauser system is a standard in many fields,
such as:
Mineral exploration - ground and airborne base station
Environmental and engineering
applications
Pipline mapping
Unexploded ordnance detection
Archeology
Magnetic observatory measurements
Volcanology and earthquake
prediction
Overhauser sensor
Overhauser effect magnetometer are
essentially proton precession devices except that they produce an order-of-magnitude
greater sensitivity. These "supercharged" quantum magnetometers
also deliver high absolute accuracy, rapid sampling, and high gradient
tolerance.
Options
"G"
option adds second sensor for gradient measurements. The
gradiometer sensors measure the two magnetic fields concurrently to
avoid any temporal variations that could distort gradiometer readings.
Features single button data recording for easy use.
"W"
option enables the acquisition of nearly continous data along
survey lines. The system records data at diecrete time intervals as
fast as two readings per second. Can be combined with "G"
option.
"F"
option reads up to five readings
per second, ideal for vehicle-borne surveys. May be combined with the
"G" option.
GPS option
integrated GPS
receiver and software. GEM Systems recently became
the only manufacturer to provide a fully integrated GPS option for its'
products. Along with meter to sub-meter positioning options, the new
processing functionality enables users to take advantage of the benefits
of GPS. Some of the capabilities include:
Pre-programming of
way points.
Real-time coordinate
transformation to UTM and local X-Y coordinate rotations
Survey “lane”
guidance , with cross-track display and audio indicator
Post-processing
of GPS data. GEM's DGPS option enables transfer of GPS data for
post-processing and merging via 3rd party software.
. Precise time synchronization
of field and base station units. This capability is particularly
important for working in noisy magnetic conditions and provides the
highest accuracy
possible.
Fast Data Transfer
A traditional area in which time is lost
in surveys is in data transfer. In v6.0, GEM addressed this in several
ways: Data download is tripled to 115 KBaud (fastest rate possible with
RS-232). PC-based data reduction is now possible using an upgraded version
of GEMLinkW, GEM's proprietary date transfer software.

GEMLink Acquisition/Display software
GEMLink 6.0 is a Windows 98/NT interactive interface supplied with
the GSMP-30 magnetometer system console. It functions as the console's
bi-directional RS-232 terminal. GEMLink 6.0 offers the user the
option to save the instrument readings to a disk file, while displaying
the incoming data in text, profile and map modes. |
